I just came from my poetry class (and am actually wasting very precious time not writing my poetry explication - but I digress) so my head is filled with poetry and pretty words. I wish that this was a valid form of passing life by in today's world. I truly think that the world would be a better place if people would stop getting so uptight and just let the magic of words run through their heads for a little bit. When I read the news lately all I hear about is the economic crisis in The States right now. Granted, this is a very important problem which needs to be addressed toute suite; however, I think that if people were not so caught up in figures and numbers (for example, those who royally screwed themselves over by being greedy and thereby causing the market to plummet globally) and just read a little bit of E.E. Cummings every now and again, then they would not be so stupid and greedy and ridiculous.
This is my plan for global peace and prosperity: Read Poetry and revel in the beauty and brilliance of words.
Maybe I am being simplistic and idealistic... but who knows - maybe it would make at least a little bit of a difference?

i think you're being simplistic...and yes, people under 16 are sub-human
i listened to a 76-year-old poetess read her poetry for an hour today and i felt the world would be a better place if people knew what poetry could do.
poetry has power. it's not simplistic. it changes people.
do you write poetry?
